They used a Teaser trailer introducing the main character and the idea of how the Joker lives in a society. The official trailer released in the same month and appeared in cinemas as well as the film appearing for premier around when the trailer released.  Certain clips form the film and trailers were thrown around online on social media giving free publicity. Walt Disney Pictures Universal Paramount Pictures 20 Century Fox Sony These big 6 Film studios dominate the industry. This is because with a smaller studio the production company will take most profits but they still have to pay a large percentage to the distribution companies and exhibition companies. With a large studio such as Warner Bros they are vertically integrated into the industry having their own distribution centres and even own cinemas for the exhibition phase.
