 Joker film trailer analysis  In this shot from the Joker trailer we see a medium shot being used. From this shot alone the Trailer tells us who the actor for the Joker is, Joaquin Phoenix, and connotes the tone of the film with its lighting. The actor stands alone in a dark room only being lit up by a light above the counter, most likely used to connote a sinister or dark tone to the film. This suggestion would make sense as the Joker as a character is usually an antagonist who has always been seen in the darker films. In the soundtrack used for this shot is a voiceover. This voiceover comes from the Joker talking to a woman about his mental health making  this sound is diegetic. This woman is portrayed as a type of therapist in the trailer but she only says minimal words so it is hard to tell. On the other hand in the voiceover the Joker is asking her “You don’t listen do you?” implying he does not believe that anything he says to her really matters. On the other hand w...
