L/O: To develop an effective film marketing strategy

American and Chinese film poster for Avengers Infinity War

The Dunkirk poster shows the release date of 21st July at the lowest section in the same font as the title and the second biggest piece of text on the poster. The Mandela film has the release date also at the lower section in a smaller font than the quote also on the poster.  Dunkirk is aimed at the majority of people which is why it released in July as a larger younger audience is available.
Dunkirk does not display a rating whilst Mandela shows a quote above a 4 star rating from the Daily Telegram. This could possibly be due to the reviews of Mandela suggesting it was a good performance from Idris Elba but the rest of the film was not as strong. Also the Telegraph is usually seen as having authority as it is a trusted news outlet. The tagline for Mandela describes what the film is based on rather than what it contains as it is based on a famous person who most people would know about. This is different from how Dunkirk's tagline is used, this is because Dunkirk's tagline gives suggestion of what the plot will be about.

Dune

  • Voice over playing over some action scenes
